Overview
The PE curriculum aims to provide a high quality curriculum which inspires all pupils to succeed and excel within physical activity enabling them to lead healthy lifestyles both physically and mentally. We want students to become physically confident supporting their overall health and fitness. We offer opportunities to compete in sport and other activities to build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect. Development of these key skills will allow students to produce a range of outcomes according to the abilities, needs and aspirations of students. These include success in formal qualifications, if chosen, at the end of KS4 and KS5 but also supports the development of transferable skills such as resilience, teamwork and confidence.
The curriculum is broad to cover a range of both sports and activities allowing students to develop an interest and understanding of the benefits of physical activity for both our physical and mental health. We ensure that all pupils develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities and are physically active for sustained periods of time. We provide opportunities for all students to engage in competitive sports and activities both within our curriculum and through our extra-curricular provision. We aim for all pupils to understand and lead healthy and active lives.
