Year 7 Football Team Crowned Rotherham Cup Champions!

After an incredible unbeaten season, Brinsworth’s Year 7 football team faced their toughest challenge yet in the Rotherham Cup final against Clifton Community School. The match was nothing short of a thriller!

The game got off to a rocky start, with Brinsworth conceding a goal within the first 5 minutes. But showing true grit, the team kept their cool and pressed on, forcing an own goal from Clifton to level the score. A close header from Alfie Stewart just before halftime almost put Brinsworth ahead, but the whistle blew with the score tied at 1-1.

The second half saw Brinsworth turn up the pressure. With just 10 minutes to go, Archie Hoyland made an incredible run to the back post and headed home a brilliant goal, putting Brinsworth ahead 2-1. However, Clifton wasn’t done yet, equalising with a towering header from a corner to make it 2-2.

With the clock ticking down, Jason Chen won a crucial free kick 20 yards out. Up stepped Jack Rose, who delivered an absolute masterpiece—a top-corner strike with just 2 minutes left on the clock. Brinsworth held on until the final whistle, securing a dramatic 3-2 victory and the Rotherham Cup title!

A massive well done to the entire team for an outstanding performance, and special mentions to Jack Rose, Henry Redhead, and Alfie Stewart, who all earned players of the match honours. What a way to end the season!
