“We have a strong track record of results and a very experienced sixth form team on hand to provide progress support and pastoral care. Our approach is to work together with students, parents, departments and form tutors to ensure the very best outcomes for all students. We offer a truly personalised approach to our students’ Level 3 education and we get to know our students’ strengths, weaknesses and ambitions. Although we are part of the main school, we have a different identity and atmosphere, whilst aiming for high academic success”.

Why New Brinsworth Sixth Form?
New Brinsworth Sixth Form offers a wide range of subjects and styles of assessment to meet the needs of a diverse intake. Our intent is to ensure our students leave as well skilled citizens, aware of progression options into university, apprenticeships and employment. We also ensure that extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities help our students develop as valuable and active citizens. All students have opportunities to gain work experience via internal and external opportunities. We strive to achieve these aims in a supportive environment where student wellbeing is at its core.
New Brinsworth Sixth Form is a great place to complete Level 3 studies. We have a range of A levels and vocational qualifications. With over 25 qualifications, BA Sixth Form offers something for everyone. BA Sixth Form has a range of highly successful BTEC courses at Level 3. A level and BTEC courses can be flexibly combined, allowing a personalised study programme. Take a look at our prospectus for details of each course and our entry requirements.
Pastoral Care
Strong pastoral support is central to our ethos. All students in Year 12 and 13 have a Form Tutor who has daily contact with their tutor group and is able to provide academic and pastoral support to students. Each form group follows a Morning Guidance Programme, which incorporates study and thinking skills, SMSC and PSHCE themes and awareness of current affairs. Each week Form Tutors conduct 1:1 intervention discussions with students to ensure that any concerns regarding progress, attendance and wellbeing are dealt with effectively.
Personal Development
All sixth form students have a 1 hour timetabled personal development session per week, dedicated to developing personal, social and employability skills.
A range of SMSC & PSHCE themes are covered, as well as ensuring that students have full Gatsby benchmark coverage to leave them well skilled and aware of progression options.
We ensure that students have an increasingly thorough awareness of progression routes into employment, apprenticeships and university. All students have opportunities to take part in a variety of exciting enrichment programmes due to our links with a wide range of universities (see below)

Student Ambassadors
Students have the opportunity in the sixth form become a Student Ambassador and take on a leadership role. The Ambassador Team is led by Senior and Deputy Ambassadors. Potential Ambassadors are nominated by staff and then apply for a role. Ambassadors undertake leadership training. The Senior and Deputy Ambassadors are interviewed and shortlisted by the Academy Principal and subsequently elected by the whole school.
Student Ambassadors meet to ensure that the student voice is represented and any concerns and plans are discussed the Sixth Form Leadership Team. Student Ambassadors represent the Academy at a wide range of events and parents’ evenings, as well as leading on the promotion of a number of whole school projects.
The Student Ambassadors are one of New Brinsworth Sixth Form’s greatest assets. We have the opportunity to make suggestions, improvements and lead on new ideas, hence the chance to make real change. It gives students the opportunity to voice their thoughts and feel more comfortable at school, as they know that their opinions matter. It is also a great way to get involved with community events, such as fundraisers and supporting local charities, as we have the ability through the Ambassadors to organise such events. As a Senior Ambassador, I am able to develop a relationship with a variety of staff and students and have the responsibility of presenting these ideas to the Sixth Form Leadership Team, pushing for the change that students want. I was initially inspired to become a Senior Ambassador, when I saw the videos of the candidates who ran before me, and now doing something that I love doing, I hope to inspire others to get involved.
