This page gives an overview of our Year 7 to Year 11 groups.
Year 7

Miss Johnson
Head of Year 7
As the new Year 7s to Brinsworth Academy you will undoubtedly be learning a whole host of new subjects and gaining new experiences.
With all this comes a new way of working, mirrored by many new and exciting activities designed to make your time at Brinsworth as stimulating as possible.
Throughout the year you will be rewarded for your high levels of behaviour in lessons, high attendance and your achievements as part of the periodic Assessment Points (AP’s). All of which culminate in the form of wide range of rewards, ranging from ‘cinema afternoons through to end of year trips.
Year 8

Mrs Doyle
Head of Year 8
Throughout Y8, our students will be involved in a wide range of activities both in and out of the classroom. We have arranged for external agencies to enhance their learning experience by providing additional opportunities to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding of the world around us.
Year 9

Mrs Tyler
Head of Year 9
Students complete their KS3 studies and will pick their options in Year 9 for GCSE and this process begins in January of the academic year. Students are guided through the process and parents are given information to help youngsters make the best decision for them.
Year 10

Mrs Burke
Head of Year 10
Year 10 is full of opportunities and challenges as students begin their GCSE courses.
Whilst students may feel that this is a stressful period of their school career, we know that the future poses some exciting opportunities for them. As the year progresses there will be opportunities to attend workshops to discuss career options and the Head of Year team will continue to ensure that your child is supported effectively to achieve their academic potential.
Our philosophy in Y10 is one that is centred around developing our students in an academic sense, but also as human beings. We will be aiming to this by introducing a year team “Vision” focusing on embedding key characteristics amongst our students.
These key characteristics are:
- Being Respectful
- Being Responsible
- Being Resilient
We hope to produce well-rounded individuals that will be ready to take on challenges of society and the world of work!
Year 11

Mrs Hall
Head of Year 11
Year 11 is full of opportunity and challenge as students prepare for GCSE examinations. GCSE courses are in full flow and expectations continue to be high across all subject areas.
Whilst students may find that this is a stressful period of their career, we know that the future poses some exciting opportunities for them. As the year progresses there will be opportunities to attend workshops to discuss career options and the Head of Year team will continue to ensure that your child is supported effectively to achieve their academic potential.
